Resort Review
They say there are ten good reasons to come to the picturesque village of Val Cenis. These include the charm of an authentic village; snow conditions which last from early December until late April, and top quality accommodation and service.
Val Cenis is located 230km from Lyon and just 23km from Modane off the RN6 motorway which leads to the Frejus Tunnel. It is really two villages, Val Cenius (Lanslevillard) and Val Cenis (Lanslebourg). Two for the price of one!
Surrounded by beautiful alpine scenery, the skiing area extends from the valley at 1400m up to 2800m - just above L'Ouillon de la Tomba (2665m). New for the 2004-05 winter season will be the 4-seater "La Met" chairlift as well as an increase in the number of snow cannons. This follows on from an investment in the 2003-04 seasonm of five million euros of the La Ramasse detachable chairlioft which now provides a direct link to the Col Mont Cenis.
The resort now provides a total of 18 lifts which includes a telecabine serving 43 pistes of which 10 are blue, 18 red and 6 are black. There are beginners slopes around the two villages. So there are lots of red and challenging black runs for the advanced skier with 1400m of vertical descent and a blue run from the top of the mountain down to the resort.
The Val Cenis ski pass covers you for the 35km of skiing terrain at Termignon, just a five-minute bus ride away and Val Thorens (highest European ski station) is just 15 euros a day extra and connected via the gondola at Orelle, 30km away. So if you have a car with you, it is very easy!
For families, there is a childrens' mini club for the 3-month upwards with lunch included. For children under the age of 12 years there are special prices and if your child/children are beginners there is a secure and safe area with a special childrens lift and play area. |
